New Addition and Updates

Sorry I haven't posted much lately. We have had company and the kids finally headed home the 12th. I was really sorry to see them go. My daughter-in-law was here almost a month and my son for almost 3 weeks. We had a great visit. My daughter-in-law is from Thailand and she did a lot of Thai cooking and boy was the food great! Together we sewed two computer bags for her to take back and she learned how to crochet. She is a speedy crocheter and completed two scarfs in 4 days! I have never seen anyone crochet that fast. They turned out gorgeous! My son and husband put in new replacement windows and siding on our back porch. It look fantastic! She has headed back to Thailand to stay with her family until about July 2013. My son in now in Afghanistan until July 2013. Wish he wasn't there but am so proud of him.

The kittens are still coming around and all put one is pretty skittish. Mom doesn't come by near as much. So it appears that the kittens are basically on their own. I try to feed the smallest one canned cat food when I can get him away from the others. Otherwise, the bigger kittens take over the food dish and he doesn't get as much. We just had rain for three days and the kittens stay hunkered down. I was surprised to see the littlest one here all alone this past Sunday. I got a plate of canned food and set it down next to me. He came right over and started eating and letting me pet him. He was purring and I said to my husband, do you want him? Said, now is the chance, I have my hand right at the scruff of his neck and think I can grab him. He said "yes"!  So, I grabbed the little one and we hurried into the house where he has been since.

We have a soft sided, totally enclosed, pet pen and put him inside. Gave him more food, water and warm blankets and just spoke softly to him. He cried for about a half hour and then stopped and has not cried since! He doesn't try to bite or scratch and just loves to be held and cuddled. Took him to the vet Tuesday morning and am so glad that I did. Poor little guy has coccidious, tapeworms, and roundworms. The coccidious can kill a kitten if they don't get antibiotics. He weighed 2.8 pounds and is 4 months old. The vet said a bit on the skinny side. The little sweetheart was starved for food and affection! He's seems to be feeling much better and is starting to play. His bones are beginning to get more meat on them. We never intended to take in another cat but just knew in our hearts that he would not make it this winter. We had more rain and freezing cold temps coming in this week so knew it would be tough on the little guy. No regrets!

Anyway, here is a picture of our newest addition: Smokey:

Hey, has anyone heard from Bogart. I knew she was having some computer problems but noticed she has been online since late September. Bogart, just want you to know that I miss seeing your wonderful comments and "smiling" attitude! Hurry up and come back...

God Bless!
